This hospital addition to Harborview Medical Center houses inpatient rooms, ambulatory care, operating suite, radiology, clinical labs, pharmacy, voluntary and involuntary psychiatric, neurology, physical therapy and audio/visual/dental facilities.
Mechanical systems include air handling units with supply and exhaust fans, preheat, heat recovery, heating and cooling coils serving constant volume reheat terminal units. Chilled water is generated by centrifugal chillers. Heating is provided by existing campus steam and steam-to-water heat exchangers. Specialty exhaust includes fume, biosafety, BL3 and perchloric.
EEI provided commissioning services for the new Northwest and Southwest Wings of this center. The scope included providing air and water test and balance services, developing functional test procedures, witnessing some or all of the start-up procedures, performing functional testing, preparing O&M manual, preparing O&M training outline, reviewing DDC system training agenda and analyzing any potential energy savings opportunities. EEI designed a VFD system for the clinic portion of this addition and assisted the clinic in obtaining energy retrofit financing under Seattle City Light's Energy Smart Design Program.
