CLOSE

PFIZER, INC.
La Jolla, California

The Pfizer La Jolla campus is built around exciting and promising technology, which involves the sophisticated interplay of molecular biology, x-ray crystallography, NMR facilities, computational chemistry, organic chemistry and other cutting-edge disciplines.

EEI was hired to commission 8 laboratory buildings with construction and commissioning occurring simultaneously. EEI performed design review, peer review during schematic design, evaluated construction documentation, wrote commissioning specifications, performed value management analysis, conducted risk assessment analysis and interviewed contractors. EEI professionals also wrote the commissioning plan, reviewed submittals, wrote functional test procedures, carried out functional testing, submitted deficiency reports, reviewed the operations and maintenance manuals, supplemented contractor and vendor training for the operations and maintenance staff and wrote the final commissioning report.

EEI commissioned the following systems:

  • Lab air and gas systems
  • Central plant systems, including hot and chilled water, steam and condensate
  • Power systems (normal and emergency)
  • Monitoring and control systems
  • Room air flows and pressure relationships
  • Animal watering system (RO systems)
  • Fume hoods
  • Breathing air system
  • Cold rooms
  • NMR
  • MPG and PRD
  • Hydrogenation facilities
