PORT OF SEATTLE
SEATTLE-TACOMA AIRPORT
SOUTH TERMINAL EXPANSION
Seattle, Washington

The Seattle-Tacoma Airport's South Terminal Expansion Project was a $211 million, 900,000 square foot project, which included reconstruction of a larger concourse, an extension of the main terminal to make way for new ticket counters, a 70-foot-high international arrivals hall, a 5-office tower for Port staffers and a new pedestrian bridge to the parking garage. The expansion added 7 new airplane gates.

EEI was the Port's Commissioning Authority for the project for mechanical, electrical and low voltage specialty systems. In addition, EEI was the Special Inspector for all inspections of the airports smoke control systems.

The mechanical systems of this complex project included over 1300 pieces of equipment, including air handling equipment, pumping systems, ductwork, pneumatics, fire protection/suppression equipment, fan coil units and over 300 dampers and exhaust fans. The electrical systems included new services, main switch, transformers, distribution panels, alternate generators, over 40 transfer switches, lighting controls, medium voltage switch gear, and a 400 Hz generator. Special systems included fiber optiocs, broadband, aviation voice paging and fire alarm.

Contracted directly to the Port of Seattle Project Management Group, EEI's services included reviewing prefunctional testing documentation, creating functional test procedures, functional testing, and final reports. Our extensive knowledge of systems and understanding of construction allowed us to schedule activities around the numerous construction activities taking place on this very complex project.
