LEED® Project
The restoration of the historic Utah State Capitol complex included the commissioning of the State Office Building, the new East/West Extension Buildings, and a new heating plant connecting the buildings through new utility tunnels. This LEED restoration included a complete replacement and upgrade to the mechanical, electrical, and communication systems of the buildings.
As Commissioning Authority, EEI was contracted to:
- Document the design intent
- Review the design of the building systems
- Prepare commissioning specifications
- Identify pre- and post-functional tests, maintenance and operational needs
- Recommend specific measures for the buildings’ energy systems and controls
- Prepare commissioning reports; conduct commissioning workshops
- Develop and deliver training
- Provide troubleshooting and performance verification
- Provide HVAC, mechanical, controls, electrical and lighting systems analysis
- Provide security, audio/video and other electronic systems analysis
- Identify maintenance and operational needs that affect energy consumption
