The August Wilson Center for African American Culture (AWCAAC) is a new facility that encompasses 64,635 SF. More than a museum, this new two-story state-of-the-art, multi-disciplinary venue is reflective of all aspects of African American culture. The AWCAAC includes galleries, classrooms, 500-seat theater, gift shop, cafe, and many multi-purpose spaces for visual and performing art and expression, which are available for rental and use by the community. The most notable feature on the outside – a bow-shaped structure of metal and glass, rising on the strategic corner of Liberty and 10th – gives a sense of movement to the building.
EEI was hired as the Commissioning Authority on this project, and the systems to be commissioning included:
- Constant volume rooftop air handling units
- Variable volume roof-top unit
- Exhaust fans
- Variable air volume boxes (with reheat)
- Domestic hot water
- Hot water pumping
- Duplex condensate
- Sewage ejector
- Daylighting system
EEI also verified the air and hydronic testing, adjusting and balancing report, building management system (BMS) graphics and BMS trends and alarms.
