Project Description

Project Description

EEI was hired to provide commissioning services for a tenant fitout project for a retail store that sells outdoor sporting equipment and clothing. The project was designed to occupy a portion of the first two stories of a 3-story retail complex.

EEI identified a number of concerns regarding the commissioned equipment during the commissioning process. All concerns were brought to the attention of the design and construction team through written reports and an observation and recommendation was prepared for each item. One recommendation for energy conservation called for the bathroom fans to be integrated with the Building Automation System (BAS). The fans were set up to run all of the time with no means of turning them off or on (with the exception of cutting the power at the breaker). By integrating fan controls into the BAS, the fans would only run when the store is occupied and thereby reduce energy consumption when not in use.

Commissioned systems included HVAC, BAS (Novar), domestic hot water system, and lighting controls.
