Project Description

Project Description

The Westfield Century City Expansion project was a redevelopment of an existing mall property in Century City, California. This project added about a third of the building’s existing space, for a total of 1.3 million square feet total.

Project scope included upgrades to the mall, and additional space added to the mall and a new parking garage. This included upgrading the structural foundation to accommodate additional loads while maintaining the existing below-grade parking garage; maintaining existing buildings, including the retail space, food court, AMC theater, and Bloomingdales; demolishing the remaining existing shopping center; reconstructing the majority of the shopping center to include two stories of retail connected by an exterior concourse with a small portion of retail on a third floor area; adding a three-story parking garage; and constructing a new Macy’s with an expansion in below-grade parking to accommodate a loading dock.

EEI provided CALGreen/Title 24 commissioning services for this project. It has been awarded LEED Gold Certification.

Commissioned systems include chilled/condenser water system, ventilation and air distribution systems, unitary heating and cooling systems, exhaust systems, building automation and temperature controls, garage exhaust/carbon monoxide monitoring systems, air and hydronic distribution systems, domestic water pumping equipment, domestic hot water equipment, water reuse (cistern) equipment, lighting control system, and landscape irrigation.
