Level 1 includes the new surgery department, Level 2 includes the MedCentral Orthopedic Institute, Levels 3 and 4 include the Heart and Vascular Institute and Community Wellness and Education Center, and Level 5 includes exam and procedure rooms, audiology rooms, and an allergy room. The project also consisted of approximately 26,000 square feet of interior renovation of the existing surgery department for PACU, pre/post-operative space, and support space.
EEI provided several benefits to the team throughout this project. The team performed a detailed review of the temperature control sequences of operation which provided additional clarity to the ATC vendor and EEI for testing. Additionally, EEI uncovered issues with the fuel oil system which would have been detrimental to the operation of the facility had they not been uncovered.
EEI uncovered dramatic pressure issues in the Operating Suite which would have prevented code-required pressurization as well as caused significant duct leakage in ducts serving this same area. These issues would have resulted in a life-long energy penalty for the hospital in addition to creating an unsafe patient environment had they not been corrected.
